Fuzzballs

The weather has finally warmed up here in the great north. I have been wearing capris for our 50 and 60 degree days and boy does it feel nice! The trees have bloomed, and the grass is growing voraciously.

A couple of weeks ago, we had the kitchen blacksplash tiled. We went with white 3 x 6 subway tiles with a light gray grout. It’s nice to no longer see the gray durock/backerboard above our lovely countertop.

The other big news in our life right now is the adoption of two 9-year-old bichons, Barney and Maggie. We adopted them through a rescue organization called SmallPaws Rescue . They rescue bichons from puppy mills and take in bichons from owners who can no longer care for them. Once our application was approved (the process took about a month), we got to pick the dogs up in Massachusetts. We’ve had them for a month now, and we’ve just about figured each other out.

As you’ll see in the pics, Barney is the larger of the two. He has long, floppy ears as opposed to Maggie’s short, fuzzy ears. The dogs were not obedienced trained, but Barney does know the “sit” command. Since Maggie has trouble seeing, she hasn’t been doing well with training. Our fast motions in trying to train scare her, but we have managed to teach her “dance”. She’ll stand up on her hind legs and hop around while waving her front paws in the air. It’s absolutely adorable! There are a couple of pictures of Barney sitting while he eats–once he goes into “sit”, he often does not leave the command unless you pull him out of it. For this particular picture, I made him sit in order to receive his evening meal. He then proceeded to sit and eat throughout the entire meal–it was priceless. =)
