Long story short:
US Version does not support 480p

Our TV doesn’t automatically switch between 480p and 480i.

Once you open the game you cannot return the game.

Ubisoft does not answer e-mail or return calls.

Best Buy’s managers will tell you this is a known “issue” but it is not, in fact, a “defect” and so the game cannot be returned once opened (even though it will not work with the Wii through 480p). According to BestBuy this issue is Nintendo of America’s fault.

According to Nintendo this isn’t an issue because the game supports 480p through a menu in the game (though this menu has been removed from the US version of the game).

Long story short, buying it to use it over 480p will result in you being out 50$ once you open the game and there is no possible way to successfully resolve this issue. You will see the left side of the screen on the right side and the right side of the screen on the left side, and the picture will be blurry and unusable. (At least if your TV is like ours).

Caveat Emptor (despite that there are no markings required by Nintendo to designate that a game supports 480p or 480i).

Jingle Bells

As soon as the Thanksgiving meal is done and the plates put away, I am ready to bring out my Christmas supplies and start the celebration. Casey and I were not able to have a tree last year due to extensive home renovations, but this year I reserved a spot for the tree in our living room. Last Saturday we headed out with Casey’s parents to choose our tree, and came back with a very fragrant balsam fir.

Dancing Doggies!

Our dogs like to dance for treats. Maggie observes the command, “Dance”, while Barney dances to “be pretty!”.

Fall Foliage Tour

Casey and I took a driving tour around central Vermont this past weekend to enjoy the fall foliage. It was gorgeous weather–sunny skies and 70 degrees. We were at high color/peak this past weekend and are still just as colorful. Some of the trees are starting to lose their leaves, but it should remain quite colorful for a short time longer.

xkcd sudo sandwich comic

I saw this mentioned over at Cecelia’s Blog. After a bit o’ quick searching, I found the actual comic at xkcd, an amusing comic I’d never heard of. Hopefully someone gets a kick out of it.

Fall Foliage

The Foliage Network states as of October 4th, we are at moderate color.

It is growing more beautiful here by the day. Here’s a picture of some gorgeous, colorful trees in our downtown area:
